How to Use AI to Write a LinkedIn Profile That Gets You Clients

Most LinkedIn profiles are bland job descriptions. They list titles and dates but never answer the one question a potential client is asking: “Can this person help me?”

This post shows you how to use AI to rewrite your LinkedIn profile so it reads like a client magnet, not a resume.

1. The Headline (Your Most Valuable Real Estate)

Your LinkedIn headline is the first thing anyone sees — in search results, on connection requests, on comments you leave. The default “[Title] at [Company]” format is a missed opportunity. It describes what you are, not what you do for the people who matter most: potential clients.

A better formula: Who you help + What you do + The result. For example: “I help SaaS founders turn cold outreach into booked demos | Copywriter + AI strategist” — that headline gets attention because the right person reads it and thinks, that’s me.

Copy-paste prompt

Write me 5 LinkedIn headline options for a [your title] who helps [your target client] achieve [specific result]. Make them specific, benefit-driven, and under 220 characters. Avoid generic phrases like "passionate" or "results-driven".

Run this prompt, pick the one that best fits your voice, and swap it in. A sharper headline alone has been known to double profile views.

2. The About Section (Tell a Story, Not a Biography)

Most About sections read like a third-person bio nobody asked for. Clients don’t care about your journey — they care about whether you can solve their problem.

The best About sections follow a 3-part structure: hook → what you do → social proof + CTA. Open with a line that names the client’s pain. Then explain what you do and how. Close with proof you’ve done it before and a clear way to reach you.

Copy-paste prompt

Write a LinkedIn About section for a [your profession] who works with [target client type]. Structure it as: 1. A punchy opening line that speaks to my client's #1 problem 2. 3-4 sentences explaining what I do and how 3. 2-3 bullet points of social proof or results 4. A clear CTA telling people how to work with me Tone: conversational, confident, first-person. Length: 200-250 words.

Tip: After the AI drafts it, read it out loud. If it sounds like a press release, loosen it up. It should sound like you — confident, not corporate.

3. The Experience Section (Proof, Not Job Descriptions)

Recruiters care about job titles and dates. Clients care about results. The fix is to reframe every experience entry as a client-facing outcome, not a task list.

Compare these two entries:

The second version tells a client exactly what you can do for them. AI can rewrite your existing bullets into this format in seconds:

Copy-paste prompt

Rewrite this job description bullet point as a results-focused LinkedIn experience entry that speaks to potential clients, not recruiters. Focus on outcomes and quantified impact where possible. Here's the original: [paste your bullet point].

Work through each role and replace task language with outcome language. Even if you don’t have exact numbers, AI can help you frame the impact in qualitative terms that still communicate value.

4. The Featured Section (Your Silent Sales Rep)

The Featured section sits right below your About section and most people leave it empty or fill it with random posts. It’s actually prime client-conversion real estate.

Use it to showcase the things that do selling for you: a lead magnet, a case study post, a portfolio piece, or a direct CTA (like “Book a free call” or “Download my free guide”). The description you write for each Featured item is what pulls people in — use AI to make it irresistible:

Copy-paste prompt

I want to add a post or document to my LinkedIn Featured section. Write a 3-sentence description for [describe your piece of content] that would make a potential client want to click. Make it outcome-focused and curiosity-driven.

If you have nothing to feature yet, the Featured section is also a great place to link directly to a booking page or service offer. One well-written CTA in Featured can generate more inbound than a dozen connection requests.

5. Skills & Recommendations (Social Proof You Can Engineer)

LinkedIn recommendations are gold — but most people never ask for them because it feels awkward. The result? Their profile sits recommendation-free while competitors with 12 glowing testimonials get the inquiry.

The trick is to make it easy for the other person to say yes. A great recommendation request is short, specific, and tells them exactly what to write about. AI does this perfectly:

Copy-paste prompt

Draft a LinkedIn recommendation request message I can send to [a past client/colleague]. Mention the project we worked on ([brief description]), the result it delivered, and ask them to highlight [specific skill or result] in their recommendation. Keep it short and easy to say yes to — 3-4 sentences max.

Send that message to your top 3 past clients or collaborators this week. Most will respond. Three strong recommendations plus a polished profile is enough to turn a cold profile view into an inbound message.

Your LinkedIn profile is your 24/7 salesperson. Most people set it and forget it. With AI, you can iterate it in an afternoon — and the right profile change can mean the difference between invisibility and inbound.
