AI Prompts for Copywriters (Write Better Copy Faster With AI)

Copywriters are already using AI — the ones who do it well have better prompts. The difference between generic AI output and genuinely compelling copy isn’t the model; it’s the instruction. Whether you’re writing landing pages, email subject lines, or social posts, these five prompts will help you produce polished first drafts in minutes instead of hours.

1. Write a High-Converting Landing Page Hero Section

The hero section is the most valuable real estate on any landing page — it either hooks the reader in the first five seconds or loses them forever. A strong hero has a headline that speaks to a specific pain, a subheadline that promises the outcome, and a CTA that feels low-risk. Use this prompt to generate a battle-tested structure you can refine rather than starting from a blank page. It’s also useful when you’re writing a business proposal and need to open with a strong positioning statement.

Copy-paste prompt

You are an expert direct-response copywriter. Write a landing page hero section for [product/service name]. The target customer is [describe them — job title, situation, main pain]. The primary benefit they get is [outcome]. Include: (1) a punchy headline that speaks directly to the pain or desired outcome, (2) a 2-3 sentence subheadline that expands on the promise, (3) a CTA button label (under 6 words), and (4) one line of trust-builder text below the CTA (e.g. a stat, a guarantee, or social proof). Do not use jargon. Write as if you're talking to one person.

2. Write Email Subject Lines That Get Opened

Email subject lines are the highest-leverage copy you’ll ever write — a 5-word line can double open rates overnight. The problem is that most copywriters default to the same handful of formulas (curiosity gap, numbers, "how to") and their lists become desensitised. This prompt generates a diverse set of subject line angles in one shot, so you can A/B test across styles and find what your specific audience responds to. For cold outreach subject lines in particular, pair this with the cold email prompts to build a full sequence.

Copy-paste prompt

You are a top email copywriter. Write 10 email subject lines for an email about [topic]. The audience is [describe audience]. The email's goal is [e.g. get them to book a call / click a link / make a purchase]. Write two subject lines for each of these 5 angles: (1) curiosity-driven, (2) benefit-led, (3) pain-point, (4) social proof or numbers, (5) direct/transactional. Keep each under 50 characters where possible. Do not use clickbait or misleading hooks.

3. Write Facebook/Instagram Ad Copy (Hook, Body, CTA)

Social ad copy is brutal — you have about 0.5 seconds to stop the scroll before your ad disappears into the feed. The best performing ads follow a tight structure: a hook that earns attention, a body that handles the single biggest objection, and a CTA that creates urgency without feeling pushy. Use this prompt to generate multiple hook variants so you can test which angle resonates before committing ad spend. For Instagram-specific content strategy, the Instagram content creator prompts cover organic content in depth.

Copy-paste prompt

You are a direct-response ad copywriter specialising in Facebook and Instagram ads. Write 3 complete ad copy variants for [product/service]. Target audience: [describe — age, interest, pain point]. The ad objective is [awareness / lead generation / purchase]. For each variant, write: (1) a 1-2 line hook designed to stop the scroll, (2) a 3-4 sentence body that agitates the pain and introduces the product as the solution, (3) a CTA line (under 8 words). Make each hook use a different angle: one pain-focused, one outcome-focused, one social-proof-focused.

4. Write a Sales Page That Overcomes Objections

Long-form sales pages convert when they anticipate and dismantle every objection before the reader can voice it. The most common objections (“Is this right for me?”, “What if it doesn’t work?”, “Can I afford this?”) need to be addressed proactively — ideally woven into the copy itself rather than buried in a FAQ. This prompt generates a full sales page outline with objection-handling built in, giving you a skeleton you can flesh out with client-specific proof and language.

Copy-paste prompt

You are an expert sales page copywriter. Write a complete sales page outline for [product/service name]. Ideal customer: [describe]. Their biggest pain point: [describe]. The main transformation or result: [describe]. Price: [price]. Include these sections in order: (1) headline + subheadline, (2) who this is for (3-4 bullet points), (3) the problem it solves (agitate the pain), (4) what's included (features → benefits), (5) social proof placeholder (e.g. testimonial, case study), (6) FAQ section addressing the 3 most common objections, (7) guarantee or risk-reversal statement, (8) final CTA. Write the full copy for each section, not just labels.

5. Repurpose a Blog Post Into 5 Social Media Posts

Most copywriters have a backlog of blog content that never gets a second life. Repurposing a single well-researched post into five platform-native social posts multiplies your output without any additional research. The key is adapting the format, not just copy-pasting excerpts — each platform rewards different structures (LinkedIn loves a list-style post, Twitter/X loves a punchy opener, Instagram rewards storytelling). This prompt does the adaptation work for you.

Copy-paste prompt

Here is a blog post: [paste full text or key points]. Repurpose this into 5 social media posts, one for each platform: (1) LinkedIn — a thought-leadership post with a hook, 4-5 short paragraphs, and a question to drive comments; (2) Twitter/X — a 5-tweet thread with a strong opener and a CTA tweet at the end; (3) Instagram caption — storytelling format, emotional hook, 3-4 short paragraphs, 5 relevant hashtags; (4) Facebook — conversational tone, 2-3 paragraphs, ends with a question; (5) Newsletter intro paragraph — 3 sentences that tease the blog and link to it. Adapt the tone and format for each platform — don't just copy-paste.
